Off to See the Lady
Tuesday, 25 November 2003 Jacob TomawI am heading out the door to the airport. Today I am going to Germany to visit Joscelynn for Thanksgiving. I have a layover at Newark, New Jersey. I arrive in Zurich Switzerland and then will take a train to Freiburg, where Jos is studying. Hopefully I can give a couple updates while I am over there.
Nice Camera Angle
Tuesday, 25 November 2003 Jacob TomawThis morning WGN Morning News is reporting that a man had fallen on the tracks at State and Washington in the Red Line Subway. The man has been retrieved and transported to the hospital. Also, the Red Line is running normal again. This is not remarkable, except they sent their news helicopter to the scene. The accident was in the subway, at least 50 feet below the surface of State Street! The chopper had a great view of the deserted Loop street at 5:30 am.
I have not disappeared.
Tuesday, 25 November 2003 Jacob TomawVeterans Day
Tuesday, 11 November 2003 Jacob TomawToday is the 50th Veterans Day and the 85th anniversary of the armistice ending World War I. Thank you to every man and woman how has server our great union to ensure that the Republic lives on. All have sacrificed some and some have sacrificed all. We cannot repay you; only honor you and your loved ones.
Ain’t representative government grand.
Wednesday, 5 November 2003 Jacob TomawSen. Hillary Clinton does not think 4-year old city head-starters know a swamp from a dam, river, or valley. She says that the kids have never seen a swamp so they can not possibly know what one is.
First, when I was 4, I had never seen a swamp, but I could have darn well at least known it was not a dam, river, or valley! And that is without Head Start. As far as I know I have still never been to a swamp, maybe a bog or two, but nothing officially called a swamp.
Second, there is a whole hell of a lot of things I have never actually seen in person. However I could identify a lot of the world if given a set of four pictures of relatively different things.
How is this possible? Humans can learn! If one of the goals of head start is to teach kids about land types, then why is it wrong to test them on it?
Thinking about the Unthinkable

Is a trip to the moon in our future?
Sunday, 2 November 2003 Jacob TomawThe administration may announce this week a new space policy. This would include manned lunar missions. I think we should have new lunar mission and more missions to build manned satellites like the space station. However, I do not know why we should do these things. I also do not know why the government should be responsible for funding these projects.
