Bad Gas!
Monday, 29 March 2004 by Jacob TomawLast Monday returning from work, the Contique?s service engine light lit. I did not notice any change in performance and was not too worried about it. The next day I tried filling up with premium fuel, hoping it was just some high emissions caused by poor fuel. However the light stayed on all week.
Today I took her into a local mechanic, referred to me by my lady mechanic. He hooked her up to the diagnostic, and it was as I had suspected. The emissions from the catalytic converter have exceeded desired levels.
The mechanic asked what brand of gas I use. I told him Citgo. The Contique was the second car this little shop had seen today with the same problem today, high emissions from Citgo fuel. I do not choose Citgo because it is cheaper; I do because it is the station that is least out of my way. From now on only the best for my baby, so I will have to find some place more worthy.
