Served with Rice
Wednesday, 7 April 2004 by Jacob TomawHave you heard? Condi Rice will be giving testimony before the 9/11 Commission tomorrow. If you haven?t heard, where have you been? Most news stations are going to carry the commission live, and I really don?t know why.
Ok, I know why. It is because she made a big to-do about not appearing before them. Now, everyone thinks she must have something really damning to say. However, what could this be? That the administration did not do everything in its power to stop the unthinkable act of hijacked planes hitting buildings. Or maybe, President Bush saw rogue nations like North Korea, Iraq, or Syria as a bigger threat than an organization like al-Qaeda of which most Americans had never heard. Perhaps the security advisor was worried about mainstream nations like China running their jets into ours.
The truth is that just like other administrations before it, the current one did not see the growing threat. It is important for the Commission to find out everything it can about the failures that took place. However I don?t think that we are going to learn anything substantial tomorrow.
