American Telephone and Telegraph
Friday, 23 July 2004 by Jacob TomawAT&T is going to stop looking to new residential customers. They say the, not so little any more, baby bells are not competing fairly and the government is letting them do it. How much compassion can you have for them though? For nearly the century they were the government mandated monopoly phone company. How fair was that?
It is interesting though that the government is lifting price restriction that were imposed on the baby bells it help AT&T to compete. These restrictions were on the phone lines that AT&T had install over its century of dominance but that the government had given ownership to the local baby.
