National Sales Tax
Tuesday, 3 August 2004 by Jacob TomawMatt Drudge reported this week that Speaker Hastert is going to promote real tax reform in the next Congress. He wants to eliminate the IRS and income tax. It would be replaces with some type of tax on consumption. I think it should be a national sales tax. Maybe they could eliminate Medicare and Social Security from the payroll taxes while they are at it.
Some of the complaints I have heard about this plan in the past are addressed by Neal Boortz today.
