These are the ramblings of a young married couple in the great City of Chicago.

Montmartre is full of these interesting Urban Canyons. Many, like Rue Tholozé here, have steps on one end or the other.

An Apple is a Healthy Reward

New Computer Setup, originally uploaded by flatiron32.

At the beginning of March something clicked in me and I was committed to losing weight and getting healthy. It has not been an easy path, but I have been making good progress. Back then I was 320lb and I have lost 25lb since then.

I am not sure what my final goal is, maybe 225, but I wanted to have intermediate goals that were hard but achievable in a couple months. My first goal was 300lb.

I also think it is a good idea to have rewards for these goals. I have wanted a new computer for a while and I have had my eye on a MacBook Pro. I decided my reward for this goal should be the MBP. If I got below 300lb and stayed there for a week, I would walk into the Apple Store on Michigan and buy the machine.

Two weeks ago, I hit 300lb and last Tuesday was one week. After work I walked in to the Apple Store and told one of the clerks exactly what I wanted. Now I have a lovely new machine and OS to learn. It has also allowed me to achieve a long goal I have had for 3 displays.

I am moving on to the next goal. Now I am looking for 275lb. I am also adding an exercise component to the goal. I want to also run twice a week for 30min at 5.5mph. If I hit this goal, I am going to get a Digital SLR.

Here Joscelynn sits on a wall at Palais de Chaillot. This over looks the Jardins du Trocadéro, which is located across the Seine from Champ de Mars and the Eiffel Tower.

Who Knew?

Who Knew?, originally uploaded by flatiron32.

Joscelynn and I learned something amazing when we were in Paris. The city is very crowded and compact downtown. It is not often shown this way, but the Eiffel Tower is actually on top of this apartment building near Avenue du Président Wilson

This is looking northwest, upstream Canal Saint Martin From the bridge at Rue des Écluses Saint Martin. This canal is a short cut for getting goods in and out of the center of the city.

Boulevard Beaumarchais

Boulevard Beaumarchais, originally uploaded by flatiron32.

This is Boulevard Beaumarchais looking north from Flag Cafe in Paris. Flag Cafe is where Joscelynn and I had our first meal in Paris.

I think Flag Cafe specialized in American food and I think I had something with fries. But I also might have had something less touristy. Even though I don’t remember what it was, it was good and I recommend it.
