I kind of like the idea of government paying for school, but not producing it. I would like for everybody in my community to have a chance to educate their children regardless of income; I’ve lived in societies where education was rare, and the social results are not pretty.
So this would amount to something like the voucher programs that we see here and there, right? Can anybody tell me why everybody gets up in arms about them? It seems like a reasonable solution to me. Right now we remove funding from schools that don’t meet their No Child Left Behind mandated test scores - why not let the parents decide?
