Got Milk?

Wednesday, 5 December 2007 by Jacob Tomaw

Jonah is having a good second day generally. We are a little worried about him. He lost more weight yesterday then he should have, 7%. The nurses are a little concerned and we have started supplementing his feeding with a little formula. The problem seems to be that Jos’ milk has not come in yet. Once this happens Jonah should be ready to go; he is latching well, just not getting filled.

Oh, we are probably going home tomorrow. Everyone is curious about what they can do to help us. I think we are prepared on food, but this is a kind offer we will accept. What we really want are prayers to make sure we know what to do.

I’m am sure things will be fine! I am also sure that you do not need prayers to be good parents - that comes naturally for you guys!

Hey didn’t they give you the instruction manual yet? From here on out it’s all by trial & error. You two will do great but prayers are always all around you.

You guys are already excellent parents! You will have plenty of prayers coming your way!

You two are too funny! Parents never know exactly what to do. Parents are the ones that coined the phrase ‘hindsight is 20/20′. You guys will be great parents (for Republicans), follow your gut instincts.

It has been a ‘few’ years since I have had a newborn but if memory serves me 5-7% weight loss isn’t anything to get upset about. Hope you are home now where you can be more comfortable and relaxed. It can take a few days for milk to come in but the colostrum is the best for his little stomach, very easy to digest to get his system up and ‘going’.
