Feeds are the future

Monday, 14 January 2008 Jacob Tomaw

Over the holiday, RSS feeds came up while talking with some family. The conversation ended with someone who is a creative engineer saying RSS feeds are not as great as everyone talks about.

I really don’t know what he was talking about. RSS feeds have changed my life and made me more productive, if you can be more productive are being a nerd. If you are looking for more ways to get more out of the internet through feeds, look here.

If you don’t know what I am talking about, check out that link and check out Reader.

If you are already a believer, what are your favorite feeds?

I love liberty and I love my son. I think sticking to the constitution is one of the better ways of protecting liberty. I am sure I am one the the better ways of protecting my son.

This also sounds like the basis of this man’s life, and that got his door knocked in and home invaded by the police.

Your civilization has entered a golden age?

Scott Adams thinks our food, gold, and building production are about to double dispite what others might think:

One view of the near future is that terrorists will get nukes and set the atmosphere on fire, or global warming will kill us all, or bird flu will create a pandemic, or the world economy will melt down, or all of those disasters will happen at once. I suppose that’s possible. But I think it’s more likely we are entering a golden age.

I like his arguments.

If we do enter a golden age, I suggest we build The Great Pyramids so we have a granary in every city.

(Please read Scott’s post even if you find my CIV references annoying.)

What I am sure I love

My Jonah asleep, originally uploaded by flatiron32.

I am often ridiculed by friends and family of rating things as just OK or fine.

I could probably stand to be more decisive and say more things are good and that I like them.

As for things that are great and I love, those are really hard for me to define. However, when I see Jonah, in a picture or person, I feel as though I am about to cry, explode, or both. I know, without a doubt, I love him.

As Joscelynn and George know all to well, there is a danger when I love something. I tend to want to squeeze it. Very tightly! It also makes me curse. I am not sure I am wired up correctly.

[This woman’s] 69-year-old mother bought the penguins, which retail for $44, from QVC, despite her daughter’s repeated insistence that she had no more room for yuletide decorations.

She did not want them so she is reselling them online. Can you believe there is an after market for stuff from QVC! (I love you mom :-D)

Honestly, this was not a problem this year for me. I got really great gifts.

I have a suggestion. If you are having trouble getting rid of your stuff and do not want to throw it away, the people on craigslist will take just about anything for free.

Thwarted by the market again

The latest idea we’ve come up with (sort of) only to find out merely weeks later that it already exists. Un-originality stinks.

Should we stop immigrants from taking them?
