Reviving “felicitations”
Tuesday, 26 February 2008 by Joscelynn TomawEver had a moment where you felt the need to express your happiness with someone’s good fortune, but “congratulations” just didn’t quite seem right? Well I introduce to you “felicitations”.
I am retroactively offended by all of the “congratulations” I received upon our engagement. The nerve of some people. Humph.

Alright, so where did you find this? I mean you were not searching wikipedia for congratulations right?

I guess that does need some explanation. Jacob took a picture of a pharmacy in Paris and someone left this comment on flickr: “Tres belle pharmacie felicitation” Weird. Jacob asked me what it meant and I wasn’t sure about “felicitation” so I looked it up and found that it roughly translates to “congratulations” in English. Jacob looked up “felicitation” in English and discovered that it’s not quite the same as congratulations.

Interesting! Felicitation is used as plural of “congratulation”.
