Fun with Pension Funds
Wednesday, 10 September 2008 by Jacob TomawAre you weary of the crisis du jour — subprime mortgages and all that? Get a head start on worrying about the next debacle by reading Roger Lowenstein’s new book, “While America Aged: How Pension Debts Ruined General Motors, Stopped the NYC Subways, Bankrupted San Diego, and Loom as the Next Financial Crisis.”
That is George Will on the coming crisis with Pension Funds. This is going to be a big problem, on that is getting exponentially worse the longer we don’t act.
The article is good, but I don’t think strong enough. I feel a little a head of the curve on this because Joscelynn had an internship with a financial adviser who has it as a personal mission to try to fix pension funds. I think it can be a hard sell because it means elected officials need to spending less, saving more, and stop lying to employees. But why do that when responsibility can be passed to the next guy and your constitutes don’t even know there is a problem.
